voices of the apocalypse

I just got a copy of the report from my MRI. Here are the juicy bits:
There is mild disc space narrowing at the L4-5 level. At L5-S1 there is mild disc space narrowing, but there is marked decreased T2 signal hyperintensity within the disc space and mild endplate irregularity and signal change suggesting degeneration.
L3-4: There is a mild disc bulge at this level. However, there is a left foraminal disc herniation measuring approximately 2-3mm in diameter. Disc material may contact and possibly compress the left L3 nerver root within the neural foramen.
[there are also disc bulges at L4-5 and L5-S1].
Impression: Left L3-4 foraminal disc herniation possibly compressing the left L3 nerver root within the neural foramen. Degenerative change is noted at L5-S1 with possible small central disc protrusion.
I don’t know about you, but I think the above is written to sound like my spine suffered a suicide bomber attack. Either that or:
“S1”
“You sunk my battleship!”
After consulting with a certain bright, up-and-coming, doctor-to-be-if-he-passes-his-tests, who just happens to be married to my sister, it seems there’s a good chance that I’ll be able to get out of this with just some physical therapy, and I’ll be able to run, Forrest, run once again in the not so distant future. Yay.
[just watch, though…I’ll come home from the neurologist today with (-1) leg.]
