totally uninspired meteorological observation:

I realized this weekend that one of the things I miss most about the midwest is the clouds. The last few days in Santa Cruz have brought unusually tall clouds and very strange weather (rain when it’s sunny out, wind strong enough to knock over pretty heavy pots on the front porch). We get a lot of wispy clouds in Santa Cruz, and of course the usual blanket fog, but rarely do we get any really big poofy clouds. Also lacking on the west coast (well, at least in the Bay Area)—thunderstorms. I’ve lived here three years now and I think I’ve heard thunder once. My dog probably doesn’t miss thunderstorms, but to me there are few things more awe-inspiring than an approaching midsummer electrical storm which produces as many as 40 lightning bolts per minute, some of which stretch across the entire horizon.
Yeah, the weather’s nice here, but pretty uninteresting.
[ Pretty uninteresting, kind of like this post. Those of you who have heard me bitch about people blogging about the weather…ah, shuddup. I’ve been both busy and uninspired—a deadly combination for a daily blogger. Hopefully I’ll snap out of this funk soon, like when my sleep schedule returns to something that even gestures towards normality. Also, I’ve been living in my books lately, and the last thing I want to blog about is schoolwork. Trust me, it’s the last thing you’d want me to blog about. ]
