Thalamus makes more sense now.

Thalamus 2.0 is up and ready for prime-time. The interface has basically been completely overhauled for easier reading, posting, and commenting.
Activity on Thalamus hasn’t really been what I’d like it to be, and by activity I don’t mean traffic—the Great God Sitemeter suggests that it gets enough visits. I mean posting activity—it’s clearly the case that the majority of people would rather discuss existing topics than start new ones, and that’s completely understandable. It’s harder to start a new discussion than it is to keep one going—I know this from being a teacher.
I don’t operate under the assumption that the new interface will generate more posts—redoing the site’s infrastructure was necessary regardless of the activity. Thalamus presently consists of 14-19 authors (nuclei), depending on who you ask, and I’m guessing we’ll need at least double that for it to be a place that changes daily.
In any case, the invite to become an author at Thalamus is still pseudo-open, and if any of the hundreds of you that come here each week (or perhaps the two of you that visit hundreds of times?) like to write, debate and discuss anything from preparing your favorite comfort foods to riding on the bus to aesthetic theory, check Thalamus out if you haven’t already.
If you’re interested in signing up, send me an email. Tell me I sent you.
