Needle in a haystack

Back from Seattle. I had a good time, though all my friend hotdamn and I did was walk around and eat. After that, we walked around and ate. Not unlike most of the urban vacations I take, though somehow less interesting. Maybe it was because we were there on a relatively cold weekend, but the city as a whole seemed rather lifeless, devoid of everything except a passive architectural personality. Maybe it was my contemplative state of mind. It was hard to tell if Seattle was a city in anticipation of some kind of frenetic activity or a city exhausted from frenetic activity. Definitely some kind of residual trace of potential energy—whether stored or spent. Anyway, the conversations, the food, and the experience of being somewhere unfamiliar made for a pretty enjoyable three days.
Definitely made the worldly food rounds, having eaten sushi, Ethiopian, dim sum, Vietnamese, and some high-dollar seafood. We didn’t so much take a walking tour of the city—it’s more like we commuted from restaurant to restaurant. A stop at a candy store made me realize how much I like sour apple Blow Pops.
Pictures from the Seattle trip are forthcoming—I’ll probably do them this weekend while I’m at home in Chicago. I ponied up for the CoolPix 990 repair, which I’ll hopefully re-have in the not-so-distant future.
I’m still feeling blah, hence the sparse posts, which, like Tampopo‘s late-stage attempts at ramen, have substance but lack profundity. Hopefully things will return back to normal soon.
