Hi. Over the course of the next week or so, I’m moving etherfarm over to a different webhost. Etherfarm’s traffic has gotten significant enough that whenever it spikes, I can’t help but think I’m taking advantage of a very generous arrangement.
In any case, I’ve mooched off my very good friend Cal for long enough, so I’m doing the right thing and moving out on my own. FYI—when the site’s domain switches over to the new host’s nameservers, there might a day or two of lag before you hit the new site.
Having to go through the MT install again is forcing me to reconsider some of my entry-management practices. One change I have to implement is to the way that entry files are named…currently every time I redesign or reinstall on the webserver, the links break because MT creates new entry ID numbers when it imports previous entries. When the changeover takes place, entry IDs will be based on date and time rather than database record ID, so hopefully this will be the last time I’ll have to tell people who have linked to individual entries to change their links.
I’m still struggling with what to do with Thalamus. It’s “up” right how, but not connected to MT, so no new entries or comments can be made. For various reasons, Thalamus never really became everything I think it could become, so I’m wondering whether to retire it completely or rekindle its fires in some way. Let me know if you have any thoughts on this.
And I still have a bunch of sections, each about 70% done, which I hope to get online soon. I did manage to put the gestalt thumbnails on this page, but did I get around to uploading the hundred-plus images I’ve prepared? Of course not. I will soon. My new hosting package has a shopping cart feature, so save up those pennies to buy some of my prints! More on that later…
