Heading west to the Far East

Thanks to everyone who responded publicly and privately to my queries for help trying to get to India. Some of you looked for yourselves and saw that me getting tickets to India are about as likely as the Cubs winning the World Series. No—strike that—they’re about as likely as the Cubs winning the Superbowl.

I’m still going to see family this winter, though, but for the first time I’ll be seeing my family in the Philippines. I’m going to try and swing by Tokyo to see some friends for a few days, but I don’t know if that will be possible.

Teaching has been non-stop this quarter, but it’s going well. With my departure looming in early December and several academic and non-academic projects to finish up before I take off, November’s going to be a busy month. I guess this makes it a good thing that everyone flaked out on my Thanksgiving invitation—I usually do up a big spread which takes days to prepare, and this month it looks like I’ll be needing those days.
