EZLogic v1.0

I’ve been getting a fairly steady stream of emails over the last few months regarding a studio project I abandoned more than 18 months ago. So I’m releasing it here, just to purge it from my inbox, but I release it with the caveat that I cannot and will not support it (mostly because I don’t have the time, but also because I no longer own an EZBus). I’ll be happy to respond to comments on this post, but keep in mind I haven’t used an EZbus in about 18 months.
So, I introduce EZLogic v.1.0, a combination of a Logic Audio environment and Event EZbus Logic profile which gives Logic users the ability to automate mixes through the MIDI functions of the Event EZBus. I developed EZLogic because the manufacturer of the EZBus, Event Electronics, in all their infinite wisdom, didn’t release a version of the EZBus Editor for Macintosh (despite the fact that they advertised Mac compatibility). So, armed with VirtualPC and a lot of patience, EZLogic was born.
This is how audio controls are mapped to an EZBus channel strip:

Much of the documentation included in this release is cobbled together from correspondence. Due to the nature of the project, the documentation involves many graphics and maps, which I’m sure you’ll find helpful. There was a thought to start mapping controls to specific audio instruments or plug-ins, but I never got around to this.
The actual Logic environment is pretty crazy. If someone wants to write up a document describing how it works and how to get it working, I’ll gladly include it in the distributable archive and give the author(s) credit.
Feel free to modify EZLogic and redistribute it. No one, however, has my permission to include it in commercial software releases.
This project was started with the help of a SonikMatter correspondent (ironically, a fellow Ph.D. candidate in Literature, though on a different contintent). Unfortunately, I’ve lost touch with him, but he deserves a fair share of the credit for this release.
People interested in EZbus software may be interested in another environment I developed some time ago—WheelControl.
p.s. etherfarm content will be shifting around in January, and elements from my older site and this site will be consolidated to new, semi-future-proof URLs.
