I attempt to have a life offline, so I don't spend a lot of time visiting other weblogs. Perhaps that's my problem. What follows is a list of weblogs I visit at least once every two weeks, but it is offered only with the caveat that, given my schedule and my general ambivalence towards all-things-web, I may not have visited any of these sites in the last two weeks.
- Airbag: Neither Greg Storey’s design acumen nor his sarcasm can be fully appreciated by mere mortals. One of my favorite sites and favorite people on the web.
- Antipixel: Found on 99% of the linklists at sites I visit regularly, Jeremy Hedley’s written and visual chronicles of worldly matters and Japanese culture never fail to inspire the masses.
- apparentlynothing: The photoblog of Lorissa Shepstone, a South African living in London.
- Authentic Boredom: Cameron Moll serves up design-related observations and advice on one of the smartest-looking blogs in my bookmarks.
- bourrez votre visage: Matt Kantor, Martin Rundle, and Scott D Cosenza muse on “all things caloric.”
- Brown Glasses: Stunning photography from the same tireless American expat who produces 28mm.org, Rachel James.
- CollyLogic: Simon Collison, designer and Expression Engineer pioneer serves up a great variety of design and web related musings.
- Critical Mass: Erin O’Connor’s articulate and insightful commentary on the culture and ethics of American academe.
- Evan Mather: Evan Mather, one of my favorite filmmakers on the web, uses his site as a distribution channel for his work.
- EXP - Jose Luis Visual Journal: The ongoing visual adventures of Jose Luis, a Bay Area photographer. Regularly updated.
- exposur3: The photographic adventures of Chrys, a Seattle expat living in Germany. One of the most consistently excellent photoblogs on the web.
- Grey Expectations: Heartwarming photographs from the legendary Noah Grey.
- hicksdesign: Jon Hicks, A-list designer and icon-illustrator, couldn’t possibly have a smarter-looking site or more helpful content. I dare him to try.
- In My Kitchen: An online record of Deb Byer’s culinary experimentation. I wish all my kitchen experiments turned out this well.
- JoshuaInk: Design commentary and a bit of everything from John Oxton.
- Kiplog: Food Blog: Warning: spending just ten minutes on this site will cause you to gain weight.
- Mark Boulton: Information Design: Journal: Mark Boulton offers smart and informative design advice and commentary, and he gets double points for being eloquent as well.
- Mezzoblue: Dave Shea distinguishes himself as the owner of two of the most useful CSS-based design resources in existence—Mezzoblue and CSS Zen Garden.
- phatic: The weblog of Scott Taylor, an Australian nurse, clinical instructor, and part-time ninja.
- quarlo: Todd Gross, a film camera, and New York City.
- seriocomic: “The personal website of Mike Hudson, a grumpy hermit living on a hill in New Zealand.”
- somethinginmyeye: Eric Alba’s wonderfully moody and evocative photography.
- Subtraction: Khoi Vinh’s personal site, which features a pleasant blend of posts on design, technology, and culture. Frequently updated and always a good read.
- The Hivelogic Narrative: Daniel P. Benjamin, “arbiter elegantiarum, technology euphemist, programmer, web designer, and writer,” narrator extraordinaire.
- The Red Kitchen: A group recipe blog—always a good place to look for simple, tasty food ideas.
- Thimkpad: Beerzie Boy, cult leader of the now-defunct Blab-O-Rama, is back. Now with even more sardonic commentary!
- Veerle’s blog: Extremely practical application and design tips from the talented Veerle Pieters.
- waferbaby: Constantly evolving online presence of the one-and-only waferboy, Daniel Bogan, and his loyal following. The only site for which I would ever wear a branded t-shirt in public.
- Witold Reidel: If you find a more eloquent articulation of stream-of-consciousness, let me know.
